Overview of new position on Interim Notifications
Here’s a quick summary:
• This is to do with imports and exports of waste in England.
• The changes are to align more closely with the requirement of the Waste Shipment Regulation and Defra’s intention, to track waste from the site of export until its recovery/disposal, both for notified and Article 18 (green list) controlled waste.
• The main aims are to ensure waste is not sent to countries not able to deal with it and to ensure that we have knowledge that waste is being managed in an environmentally sound manner throughout the period of shipment, including its recovery and disposal.
The current and new positions are outlined on slides 6-7 of the EA Interim presentation.
